The patient is positioned to capture clear images of the femur from the front (AP) and the side (LAT). The leg is adjusted for the X-ray, and multiple images are taken to assess the bone structure.
No special preparation is required, but patients may be asked to remove any metal objects, such as jewelry, from the lower body before the exam.
